Hello everyone. The July Photo of the Day Challenge theme is TREE. I took this photo of my neighbor's tree today on my walk because it is just so beautiful. I love her crepe myrtles. It was HOT!!! My walks are getting a little harder to do in the heat, but I am forging on!
We have a few different varieties of Crepes in our yard as well. Normally, the one below (our tree) is so beautiful, but the heat has really hit it. My neighbor's tree is a different variety and its 25 years old. Mine is three years old.
I got this tree for free from our city that did a plant a tree campaign. It was a little offshoot on a stick. I was like how will this grow into anything, but it did!!!
Of course, I am going to share a throwback of this mighty tree in Arkansas that my mom and I went to see during our camping and hiking trip last year (May 2025)
This is an Arkansas Champion Winner. Each year trees are nominated.
Southern Catalpa
It is located in Hempstead County by the Historic Washington State Park in Arkansas. It is so massive. I wish I could have captured the massiveness of this tree on my phone camera.
As always here are some my favorite quotes I have recently saved tree or nature related! As you know I am a lover of Forest, Trees, and all things Nature. All from Pinterest.
SO.... as the title stated.... I finally got all my pictures cleaned off my phone and all of them organized in my digital storage so I can easily access them by month and year.
I did a huge overhaul of my photos in 2023. I have kept up with weeding out my phone and uploading them to my digital storage yearly since. I decided to c
lean up the digital storage and organize it better. This was a good project to work on while I have been recovering and sitting a lot.
NOW....I am in the process of trying to decide if I want to go back to scrapbooking.
I stopped scrapbooking in 2017 and started photo books from my digital storage I use (Amazon Photos) and just printed photo books off. I did this until 2023. It was easier and more simple for me at the time as a homeschool mama and pastor's wife. Now, I have a little more time AND while the photo books are nice the quality isn't always the best. I could just print the pictures I suppose and store them, but I really want to have pictures and our memories a little more enjoyed and accessible. If not, why take pictures, right?
The thing is it feels overwhelming as to where to start. Do I want to go back to 2024 and start and pick some of our favorites and scrapbook? Do I want to just do special holidays and occasions? Trips? Do I want to just start with this current year? Hmmm!
Also, as an avid hiker and explorer as well as we take a cruise or vacation once a year, we have soooo many awesome pictures that I want to showcase. I visit state and national parks a lot, so I am thinking of maybe just doing an explorer scrapbook of the trips.
Do you scrapbook, or print and put in albums, or just store them on digitally or just simply do not care? LOL!
I guess I wonder if something happens to me will my kids be able to access any of my storage stuff online to see all these great memories and pictures? So, I am thinking of ways to go about making them available and more accessible.
I also do not want overcomplicated or expensive. I did look into digital scrapbooking, and I am just to hands on for that. I also do not like clutter and tons of supplies. Sigh.... I am still debating.
Anyhoo.... until next time....

We had a catalpa tree when I was a kid and I love to see them.
I used to scrapbook and now I make digital books. I've tried a few companies and have settled on Mixbook as it prints beautifully and I have lots of options when making them. I make a book each year for each of my 4 grands, and also one for Bob and I. I also just finished a family legacy book on my family and ancestors.
The scrapbooks I've made in the past haven't held up well, the glue starts to fail and pictures slide, so for me this works better. And - I don't have to keep buying supplies! Good luck on this decision!
Pretty trees and old one is amazing.
I am not a picture person and don't save many at all. I figure they are on my blog.
I just found your blog! I used to scrapbook al the time but it's been about ten years since my last album. I would love to get back into it.
I scrapbook for a family members 7 children. Did soooo much until kid #5 from then on I do holidays and special occasions. Try two page layouts for each event. And I made everyone a 8x8 album to hold birthday photos again two pages per birthday. Took awhile to make those. Now all have to do is insert b day photos good luck figuring out.
Yeah, see that is one reason I think I want to continue to do the photo books. I don't like keeping up with the supplies and stuff. I may need to try a different printing platform besides Amazon.
:) Thanks
Hi Pam! Welcome!!! I am glad you visited and commented.
Oh, this is a great idea!! I like this a lot. Thank you for sharing!
Your neighbours tree is beautiful and so is yours.
I can't imagine how you are managing to walk in the heat that you have.
I often think about starting to scrapbook but them I think I have my blog sharing a lot of mine and my families adventures and special moments.
I had printed photo albums from 2005 until about 2020. The company I used went out of business and the ones I thought I would use were too expensive since at the same time we had to go through bankrupcy. Things got pretty dicy and it fell by the wayside.
I love the books and feel its the only way our family will be able to relive our history after we are gone. I also like to go down the "rabbit holes" reliving them myself. (:0)
Seems my family really isn't interested in scrolling through my blog so they are missing a lot of who "I" am.
Hopefully some day soon I can begin printing new yearly books.
Great blog post today and I do love Trees too.

Love the tree pics - so pretty! I'm a scrapbooker and I did my kiddos baby books and school years albums (still need to finish the school years one to be honest). And I made a wedding scrapbook for Matt & I that I am adding our anniversaries in each year. I have a travel scrapbook and I'm continuing it in my new life with Matt too. I used to scrapbook all my family albums but I kind of stopped when things went south with my ex and I. I have now been keeping photos by month in my shutterfly and doing digital yearly albums. But still doing those other things I mentioned with paper scrapbooking. I also often make little scrapbook gifts for others. I love both worlds! 😍 But I really love playing with papers and stickers and I think my kids will appreciate things in my own writing when I'm not here one day. 💗
Yeah, I treat my blog as a scrapbook and journal of sorts BUT my kids are not big neither my hubby on posting them without asking so I try to respect that. So, I have so many family pictures I do not share on here. I do share some but I let them know. Plus, they do not even know much about my blog life. :)
Yes! My family is also not big into checking my blog nor have I really shared it much with them. My mom gets on occasionally. My kids aren't hugs fans of me sharing a lot of their lives and pictures of them as they are adults. Some things they are okay but not a lot. So, I have so many memories that are never posted here. I also like to relive those moments.
I am like you, with pictures, and where to store them because since I got a digital camera and cell phone camera, I have not printed many pictures at all. They are in my computer or my phone or on some flash drives. Like you, I am concerned that in the future our families will not be able to access the pictures of all these years. I really can't afford to do books of all of them and would have to pare it down to just special events. I have never done the Scrapbooking program. It just looked like too much work and expense for me. I have some very OLD scrapbooks that I made when I was a teenager and when I got engaged. But that was the last ones I did. I have tons of old photo albums of our children, etc. when they were growing up, but once I started with the digital camera that was the end of that. Sad, but true.
I love your tree photos. Love the Crepe Myrtles. They are blooming around here too, but I don't have one in my yard.
That crepe myrtle is beautiful!
I started to scrapbook years ago and as much as I love the finished project... it was too much. The supplies, the space to complete my page, and storage. I use to digital scrapbook but have even stopped that. I look at my blog as a sort of scrapbook of my life. It's most definately a personal decision.
Your photos & your images are just beautiful ... I particularly love the nature verses. xx
Oh, this is a great idea, Carrie!!!! I like the idea of printing a yearly album but then choosing to scrapbook some special things. I like paper and creating too!
Yes, I am trying to think of the best way to deal with them. I have friends that have passed young (40's) due to breast cancer who had younger children and she wanted to make sure they had printed memories before she passed away. I always think of that so I am trying to decide. Carrie (Northwoods Scrapbook Blog) just made a comment above and I think I may try a balance of that. Yes, things are so expensive. I may just do the good ole print and put in an album like the good ole days. I wonder if they even still sale picture albums>
It is!! I wish it was in my yard. LOL
So, true to all you said. I started my blog back with that thought BUT my family doesn't look at my blog nor really wants me to post much of them on it so I don't have a lot of family pictures and etc. They do not care for some posting but not a lot.
Thanks Julie! Me too!
