Hello Beautiful Friends! I hope this Friday finds you SUPER well. If not, His mercies are new every morning and His Oil of Joy never runs out. Run to the Father. I have a "little" of a lot of different topics here today! Get cozy and visit with me!!
This week has been a little pleasantly busy. My last few weeks have been slower. I am preparing for a vacation soon. Preparing and returning from a vacation is a lot of work. Sometimes I question the vacation, but I am excited! I have a lot to do beforehand to prepare to leave because I am the bookkeeper for our church and secretary as well as a Pastor's wife. It takes a lot to juggle and prepare for us to leave. We are actually going to be gone longer than we have ever been before. So, a lot of prep work has to be done!!!
Anyhoooo....while preparing and shopping for vacation needs some fall things caught my eye. I am not one that really likes to overspend or go overboard on seasonal decor. I try to be mindful and use what I already own or use natural elements. But there are times you need a cozy sweater, candle or a pillow. Something that just celebrates the New Season coming.
I always like to get one or two festive seasonal shirts. Look at this DARLING LIGHT SWEATER!!!!! Hello Pumpkin.....
I also found the SOFTEST COZIEST not over the top "fallish" throw pillows. I have had my previous pillows for years. I knew that this year I would replace them! These can transition to winter. They are so SOFT and just my color scheme. Soft and neutral with a little interest.
I had blue and white throw pillows from the spring and summer. They were actually throw pillow covers. I usually like to use throw pillow covers as they are cheaper and washable.
Yesterday, I met up with my daughter for lunch on her lunch break. She works as an orthodontist assistant. She really likes her new job. But the co-workers haven't been the best. Working in an office with women can be challenging. She is learning this. She has been so blessed working mainly alone or with extremely great co-workers. These are just life lessons that young adults have to learn. Please pray for her though. She breaks out in hives on her way to work so nervous and anxious about them. We have been praying together by phone every morning on her way to work. This week, God has stepped in and heard our prayers. I will share later what happened!
We went to one of our traditional places that we like to have lunch at.....none other than Panera Bread Co. It was a nice time. I surprised her with her first little fall kitchen hand towel for her new little home. She loved it.
I think it is important to give young adults their space but I also think it is important to have set aside time to catch up and invest. This season has been a lot of mentoring. It can be challenging as I want to tell her what to do, but I know that I have to approach it in a mentoring way and let her decide.
Tonight, we had our baked potato bar. It was so good!! We had some fresh hot bacon, seasoned chicken, diced ham, cheese, chives, and other toppings. French bread and salad were also in the lineup!
In closing, I want to share how I have decided that I am just going to like what I like and not worry about things. I have been reading and watching for about two years how people laugh, make fun, and even say people that use wall art signs with sayings or words on them are out of date. One designer said it was tacky. Well, being one who usually marches to my own beat, took it to heart. I slowly little by little began to take down my little signs that have verses on them and sayings that mean a lot to me, etc. I mean I didn't want my home to be TACKY. 🤣
But over the last few weeks, I just missed seeing this sign that I took down in my entry. You see, it has been my LIFE VERSE over the last three years. I have had some of the roughest years of my life in the past three years. Darkest, deepest desert moments! But the Lord sustained me with this verse. Every morning, I would wake up and see this as I came into the area, and my heart would smile or I would burst out in tears. I needed this hope and reminder. Well, my husband preached something last night at church and reminded me about it. I decided to put it back up. I guess I will just be TACKY. 🤣
The luxury of our homes is just that....THEY ARE OUR HOMES. We create our homes to fit our styles. So.....that BABY is BACK UP!
I need it now as I needed it then. It may not always stay here. But I feel it is what this spot needs!!!
I hope you all have a wonderful, wonderous weekend!!!!
With Love,
Chrissy T

Hi, Chrissy!
I found your blog a few days ago, but much has been happening around here, so I'm just starting to read it! :)
And I love what you wrote, about liking what one likes and not worry about things. Everybody has an opinion and we have to go with the tastes, likes and dislikes God gave us.
I've fallen in that trap many, many times and it is horrible, because we start comparing to other people and devalue our lives and tastes, right?
I'm more of an earth tones girl, but your pillows are beautiful and that baked potato bar looks delicious!
Oh, and I will be praying for your daughter, too.
Have a blessed day!
I love your new throw pillows and I 100% agree that your home is yours to style at you like. I don't think prints with sayings are tacky- I mean sure some can be but I think it depends on the saying. It's funny how sometimes other people opinions just hit us and stuck with us and yet other times we can just shrug our shoulders and not care. Your print looks lovely hanging where it is.
Oh my! I LOVE that sign, and I am SO happy you put it back up where it will give you comfort and hope and joy in your heart when you see it! I do not hold with trends and fads. I decorate with what makes me happy, and I have had lots of different kinds of "sign" art over the years, and often change them seasonally. I really have never cared if someone else thought they were tacky or not. This is our home, and as long as the people inside it are happy, that is what matters most! Also, guess what, I am a "retired" pastor's wife, church bookkeeper and secretary, etc., etc. As a matter of fact, my last job before retiring wasn't at a church that we were pastoring, but at a very large church and I was the Church Financial Administrator, which was a fancy title for bookkeeper, human resources, etc., etc., and how well I know how difficult it was to be able to take off for any vacation, even if only for a few days! But especially when we were still in the ministry...and often we'd get away and would get calls that someone had died and could we please hurry back home, etc....Oh yes! How well I remember. I will be praying for you as you get away on a much deserved vacation, and pray that you will both be refreshed and restored and revived in your body, soul, and spirit. May the Lord be with you and give you rest and peace. Have a wonderful time! I love the things you bought to decorate and also to wear! It appears to me that you have impeccable good taste!!!
Hi Chrissy, I sure enjoyed reading your post and the photos you shared. I've missed the old way of blogging so much and honestly, reading through yours felt like old times. Thank you for that ♥
Your daughter is beautiful. Yes, it can be hard to work with women, as a nurse I did it a lot! Praying for her!
Baked potato bar sounds wonderful.
I hadn't heard that word art was going out. I love it and have some scattered around my home.
all the best to your daughter
if you read the "about me" on my blog it says that i have an unhealthy obsession with pillows....enough said!! oooooh, just one thing....they are pretty perfect for your spot!! beautiful picture of you and your daughter, you look like sisters. AND, my home is tacky too!!! have a great weekend!!

Mari,
Thank you. Thank you for praying for her. I love the signs! You can never go wrong with verses and uplifting things as wonderful reminders as we putter about in our homes and serve in them.
Debbie,
We will be tacky together. HAHA!!! I love and I mean LOVE pillows toooooo!!! I hope you have a great weekend too!
Thank you, Christine! :)
I hope the preparations for your vacation are going well.
That sweater is so cute and the pillows too!
Aww! That is a shame that your daughter is working with challenging people, I get that! My daughter works with some not so nice people and it has taken a couple of years to learn to just get on with her work and ignore silly people. Sending love and hugs to your girl.
Yum to the baked potatoes!
Good on you, it's your home so you get to have what you want in it! I love the sign and don't think it's tacky at all!
Kim,
Thank you so much for the encouragement. You know I told her to just keep to her work and move on. It is hard though. Thank you for liking my sign!!!!
