PRAISE REPORT & UPDATE on My Husband

Hello everyone. First, I want to say THANK YOU to everyone that has prayed, sent encouraging emails, and thoughts towards our family at this time. It means so much. This space and all of you lovely people have a special place in my life. I truly miss visiting you all and posting here. I hope to be back to a little more regularly when time allows.

MOST IMPORTANT thing is.... THE LORD heard our prayers and Derrick did not have any spread of cancer to other organs at this time. PRAISE THE LORD. The cancer is in the colon for what can be seen by the scan. They could not see how much pass the tumor and they can't tell if the lymph nodes or how much is in the colon until after surgery.

He is having surgery THIS TUESDAY to have the mass removed and parts of the colon as well as lymph nodes in the area. He will be in the hospital for a little while following that. After a week or so we will know about treatment such as chemotherapy. As of now we are told they suspect it is stage 3 but until they get inside the colon, they cannot confirm 100%.  Also, due to the tumor being so large and blocking most of the middle and upper colon they cannot know until after he recovers and does another colonoscopy what other issues remain. Our hope is NOTHING.

So, I am going to post today this update and probably do a Monday post because I so miss you all. Monday may be about my summer reads and my fall reads that I hope to get to, then it may be a bit quiet here unless I do a quick update on things due to helping him after surgery and being at the hospital for a while.

If you would have told me that I would be caring for my husband in this way 10 weeks after my own surgery I would have never believed you. The Lord is giving me strength, but I am truly exhausted and could use some prayers. I am being very transparent that today has been a very emotional day. I am so thankful with every inch of my being the cancer had not spread anywhere else. I am so trying not to worry about his surgery it will be up to 4 hours long. I also know a TAD of what to expect as far as recovery in the abdominal area so I feel so bad for him because his will be a more complicated and being that my surgery is so fresh in my mind it makes me hurt in my heart for him. He is not a person that sits down or does well with being "down." This will be a real challenge for him.

We have had to arrange so much for the church and for his job. This is definitely a hard season, but we will press on!

Blessings,

Chrissy

Praying right now for good results from the surgery, Derrick's peace of mind and his ability to handle "being down" and definitely for you. Strength and peace even in the dark times. God is the Blessed controller of all things.

Chrissy,
PTL πŸ™Œ that your husband got a good report that cancer hasn't spread. Been praying for you all and checking your post everyday. You try to get some rest too. Will be lifting you both up in my prayers. Your husband will see he has to take it slow and he will have a great nurse to take care of him. Stay strong. God will help you and give you the strength. Prayers πŸ™

The prayers for both of you continue. This is good news but surgery of any kind is, as you know, a challenge and recovery can be long and difficult. In important but very different ways, a loved one's surgery is equally tough on the caregiver and you've had a rough go of it. So please allow people to care for you too and remember to do so for yourself. Don't hesitate to ask people for help. Sometimes (often) they want to but don't know what you most need -- it may just be a good conversation or it may be respite care so someone can be with your husband while you take a break. In any event, I'm sure you know your blogging family is behind you.

So glad to have an update from you, and praise God for the wonderful news that the cancer has not spread. Still, I know he has an uphill battle before him, but God is with him and He will never let him go. He is already preparing the way and will take care of every detail. I can imagine how difficult this is for you as you are still recovering from your own surgery, but I know God will give you the strength you need for each day...you can rely on Him to carry you. I will continue to pray, and especially tomorrow when he is having his surgery. You will be in survival mode tomorrow, and then caregiver for a while, but God will see you through one day at a time. I am praying for your church congregation to step up to the plate and minister to you and your hubby and family during this time as well. In times like these the Body of Christ goes into action. May you feel the presence of the Lord with you both throughout this whole ordeal. He will carry you. (((HUGS))) and prayers.

Dear Chrissy - yes, thank the Lord for no further spreading. But I'm so sorry you are both carrying so much right now. Please know if you lived closer I would be right over to help in any way I could. What I can do is continuing to hold you all up in prayer and I do!! Thank you for sharing your life here and I feel so close to my blogland Friends. Your pain is my pain and I will be continuing to check in. God is good. Rest at His feet. Thank you Chrissy for taking the time to update us. I will continue to pray for your husband and his recovery. And you, too! Of course, you're exhausted! Your body is grieving for what it's lost, you're still recovering and now you're in an emotional upheaval for your husband's sake.
