Hello everyone! I hope you had a lovely weekend. I am now exactly TWO WEEKS from today before my hysterectomy. If you have been reading along in the last few months you know the rough journey I have been on.
I am feeling a little better and on days I am I try to tackle some areas I wanted to get done before surgery and recovery. Again, I have had a rough start of the year and was not able to tackle my spring clean and organizing as usual.
I am almost embarrassed to show y'all this area. Inside my home there is not a room that looks like this (maybe a cabinet 😆) but this little room off our garage is what we call the horrible storage room. I cannot tell you how many times I have cleaned this room only for it to be junked again but loving family members. Aka...Mr. Hubby and grown "kids!"
BUT this is where we store all our hiking & camping gear, lawn chairs and golf things as well as the overflow for our paper products for our home. We also keep stuff to feed the birds and care for our dog, Mitzy, who is an outside dog because she prefers it. We keep all our beach stuff, lake stuff, grill stuff and coolers... and on and on and on..... LOL!!!
The before! I know. It is a walk of shame! 😆😆
Anyway... I couldn't stand it any longer because I couldn't get to my paper products easily and bird seed. So..... once again, I WAS RUTHLESS like I was with my closet a last week. I donated about 60 items and trashed (we will not say) a lot!
Well, what do you know... we can walk in the small storage room now!
I will be honest I was praying the whole time there was no snake as we do get them in our garage. I have seen and killed more snakes in my yard than I have ever seen hiking in all the woods, canyons and mountains I have hiked. I did see a monster of a spider! Sigh!
When thinking about things I want to do this week Sunday I knew this and one more area would be on my list if I had energy. I checked the weather for the coolest day this week because we are about to have a heat wave starting tomorrow. Today was the coolest day for this week. I did feel pretty good this morning, so I got started on it. It took me about two hours! I am so glad it is done.
In other news because you probably do not care about all my junk... LOL!
Mondays seem to have become my go to "market' day! It just seems in the last few weeks since I have felt better it has worked out. I quite like it. I used to shop Fridays, but it is so busy in my area.
As I went to town, I took all my donations to the thrift store because I believe when you declutter you need to get it out of your view and home soon!
I loaded up as I decluttered and now it is ready to go. I used a lot of old boxes I had saved in the storage room. It was nice to have them on hand to box up items. I dropped everything off at the donation center.
Then I popped by the grocery store and of course picked up some fresh flowers. The clearance rack was slim pickings today.
This is me heading to the flowers in hopes of some beautiful ones on clearance but nope! So, I picked up some hydrangeas that were very reasonable. I wish I had a cut garden! One day!!!!
Until then this will do!!! I love hydrangeas!! I have a hydrangea plant, but it really hasn't produced any flowers!!
We are having Caeser Chicken Bacon Wraps for dinner with roasted sweet potatoes. I plan to make a fun recipe to check that off my bucket list today or tomorrow!!!
Until next time,
Chrissy T

Hello beautiful Friend! As you saw in my post- I sure feel you in this season too. Of wanting to purge and simplify and organize. All the "things" just don't matter the way they once did it seems. My kiddos are getting more moved on in their lives. And Matt and I aren't getting younger and when we think of plans for the future it doesn't include all the "stuff". It includes retiring at the lake and having less "stuff" to haul there. Lol Plus, the more I age the more I focus on what really matters in my life which is my Lord and where I hope to be one day - and my family and friends. So I think it makes it easier to let go of the other things.
Saying prayers for your surgery ahead. I hope you're not doing too much and make sure you rest up too! 🙏🏻💗
Chrissy! I'm so impressed! I think we all have places in our homes that just seem to fill up with stuff. I know how good it feels to get it cleaned out. You did good!
We have a cupboard under our stairs which looks like the before picture, no matter how much I tidy it! Don't be embarrassed, it's just real life. You did a fantastic job, it all looks so organised now.
You did a great job. What a transformation!!!
WOW, Lady! I need you to come to my house and declutter and reorganize a couple of places. That looks amazing! Good job, YOU! The flowers are beautiful. Praying for you. xx
Oh my! I am impressed! That is pretty amazing how well you reorganized/decluttered that small storage area! Wow! I know I need to get ruthless with some things and get rid of a lot of STUFF, but it just takes so much energy to even get started. YOu have inspired me, and just maybe I will think harder about it now. LOL. I love hydrangeas too, but they seem to not do that well here as it is so hot. They are really lovely flowers. I'm glad you are feeling well enough to do some things, but not overdoing it. Trust me, once your surgery is over and you are fully recovered, you will feel so much better, but you have to give yourself time to heal and rest. You will continue to be in my prayers during this new "season" of your life.
Good for you for cleaning and clearing out your storage room. And that's great that you donated 60 items! It looks really organized and easy to get to, and I would love to have all those extra paper towels on hand. I'm always running out. Your hydrangeas are so pretty, and the vase looks like milk glass. I don't see white hydrangeas that often, and these are really lovely. I'm happy that you feel better after your storage area is all neat and organized. A happy June week to you, Chrissy.
Great job on the storage area! I agree that the items to donate must be gone right away. Less clutter, and no one is tempted to remove items! *smile*
This is the first year that my hydrangeas have flowers. They have just started flowering and I'm super excited.
I promise, I am taking breaks and taking my time. I am trying to pace myself!
I understand all you say! I feel the same.
Thank you so much!
Thank you, Kim! I think we all have a hidden space or two! :)
Thank you so much Karen.
Thank you so much!!!! Thank you for your prayers!
Thank you so much for your prayers and encouragement!! I am thankful for the little energy I have at the moment before surgery so I can do some things because I know I will have to be back to resting and taking super easy!
Hello! Yes, it is milk glass. I love milk glass. I used to collect it but I only have about 3 pieces now that I treasure. This vase being one of them.
Happy June to you as well!
Oh, how lovely!!! I hope mine blooms one year!!
The hydrangeas are beautiful, worth full price! I just donated a bunch this week, too. Somehow stuff just accumulates. I gave it to our beach community for a yard sale they were hosting to raise money for a cause. It felt good to clean out and help out! Feel good!!
I love to clean, organize and declutter, dear Chrissy! You are doing a great job!
I am very impressed with your tidy storage area. I currently have a large box behind my chair that is waiting to go to the charity shop - and has been waiting for months. Your decision to take it quickly is an excellent one.
You did a great job cleaning it up. Your organized place looks amazing!! I wish you a speedy recovery, Chrissy! I am sure you will feel a lot better after the recovery. I have heard that hydrangeas need a bit of sunlight to bloom. You could try moving it to a sunny spot where it can get morning sunlight. Take care!!

Oh, how neat to be able to donate to a good cause!!!!
Thank you so much Linda!
Yes, I learned the hard way not taking things never completes the declutter job! Thank you for visiting.
