One Simple Thing at a Time.......

Hello all my beautiful friends.

FEBRUARY!!! Insane! Time just ticks and ticks and goes and goes.

I can honestly say it feels I celebrated December 31st blinked and February 2nd is here but AT THE SAME TIME...it has felt this month has painfully been drawn out.
Isn't that strange how that can happen?!

Really, all the things I had good "intentions" to do did not get done. Life is funny like that. I did accomplish my reading goal, a month long break from YouTube that I am continuing (except worship music) and I read my devotional and kept up with my Bible time. But really nothing else that I had planned was accomplished. :)

I am dealing with TERRIBLE winter blues. As I have entered into perimenopause and closer to menopause, I can say it seems winter seems harder from me every year. But enough of that....

I can either be discouraged I didn't even get an inch of what I wanted in our home done, or eat the best I had intended, walked as much I had planned, I  didn't hike as much I needed, didn't do this or that....I am going to start fresh and look at it that my body and soul needed a BREAK. I needed to just rest. I think I can often forget that January is a harder month for me mentally and emotionally which reflects physically.

I made TOO many goals for a month that I know deep down is hard for me. It has been that way for 20 plus years. All but one or two Januarys I have really had such a difficult time in those 20 plus years. With that being said, I want to set small goals or intentions to try to work towards in February. There is only 28 days and this encourages me that I can simply simplify my month to accomplish things that help me move forward after January's stillness. While I enjoy that stillness and I needed it I also know that if I don't push myself a tad I will get in a very dark place. So, with that in mind here we go....

I am breaking this up in a few different categories....
I will choose ONE THING for each category I want to do. I will do a tag in Mid-Month and if I accomplished the goal I will add a new thing. If I haven't, I will make sure to work towards it before Feb. 28th.

Spiritual- schedule my SOLO Prayer & Quiet Time Overnighter (I have done this for years and it does a world of good for me) (COMPLETE) Planned for June in Indianapolis

Physical- One Winter Hike

Emotional- Journal emotions and moods or use a prompt to journal daily at night

Creative Outlet- Finish my miniature Book Nook Craft (COMPLETE)

Brain Boosting- Finish the three books I am currently reading

Homefront- Make a daily and weekly routine and put into practice this month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Organization- Clean Pantry (COMPLETE)

Nutrition- Eat more vegetables

Ministry- create a binder and organize all ladies' ministry info
**I am a pastor's wife. A huge part of my life is serving in ministry and church so I have needs that I would like to set to accomplish in this category.**

Just for FUN- make bird feeders

What about you? Do you have some simple things you would like to do in February??? Please share!

With Love,

Chrissy T

I love your goal of just one thing in different categories. I also agree January is hard month and it affects in so many ways. I feel like February is the real New Years :). Have a good day!

I feel you on those winter blues. Sunday was a hard day for me.

I know that the beginning of the new year there is a big push to be productive. Remember, we're all different and if you need rest in place of productivity, that okay too!

Have a great week!

Winter is hard, I usually suffer with the blues at this time of year but over the last month I have taken things slowly and tried to keep myself busy. Don't be discouraged and take February as a fresh start and March if you need that too. Good luck with your goals!

Hello my Friend. Sending prayers of comfort and peace your way. I'm so glad you're giving yourself the break you need. And lots of grace too to reset and allow a plan that works for your heart and soul. Winter is so long and difficult. I hope this is a fast month for you and that the joy of Spring around the corner will be renewed goodness to your heart. Blessings to you always. xoox

February is a new start. January is over and done with. What happened (or didn't happen) stays in January! God gives us new months to get a fresh new beginning. I think February is always a bit more exciting and hopeful. We have Valentine's Day and the President's Day holiday to break up the month. We can put out happy decor about love...and begin to contemplate springtime more fully. Oh, when you mentioned a binder or something to organize your ladies' ministry items, I thought, "That was me about 30+ years ago when we were still in the ministry and I had all those wonderful ideas and plans". I think I still have it somewhere in a file cabinet. Now I have retired from being "in charge" of women's ministries, but I am still active in our church ladies' Bible Study, and I find that the ideas and experiences of the past oftentime come bubbling up when someone is needing some encouragement or sharing their hopes and dreams. I am thankful for those early experiences and memories that have become pockets where I can pull words of affirmation or exhortation or wisdom to share with those who are still growing and seeking guidance in that area. So keep putting those thoughts and ideas and dreams into a special place and when you need it, it will come back to you. Have a wonderful February. Remember God is with you every single day and month!! He never leaves us nor forsakes us, regardless of how we are feeling at the moment. He will carry you through.

I tend to struggle the most with Jan, Feb. & March; those "real" winter months can be brutal and even things like "get out for one walk" may not happen since I am definitely a fair weather hiker.. and we have nearly 2 feet of snow on the ground which makes hiking all the more difficult. But I do try to set small goals like plan something "fun" once a week. Whether it's going out to lunch or browsing a book store or working on crafts... I try to find little bits of joy to help the cold pass just a bit quicker.

February always seems like the longest month to me, mostly, I think we are all so "done" with winter by then, even though it's only been a month or two -- and this year it seemed to start much earlier. I say chill in February (pun only partially intended) and make sure your list includes things you really want to do. The rest will fall into place.
