Hello Beautiful Friends!!!! A great part of the US has been hit by the recent winter storm and here in the DEEP SOUTH of usual 60 degree winter days we are shivering a bit!! Feels like 4 degrees here today in my area and ice covers the trees. It reminds me of my 15 years of shoveling snow, power outages, and snow/ice days when we lived in the north. Every now and then I miss those cozy cold, icy and brrrrr kind of days. I mean....not enough I want to live in the cold all the time but the occasional moments I embrace.
I am embracing them because like it or not here in the deep south people DO NOT go anywhere when ice, sleet, or any type of snow mix surprises us and shows us a rare visit. People truly do not go anywhere, business close and even fast food places. Now, I understand why because of the rarity of it all and the lack of knowledge how to drive in it because it is so uncommon. But I do giggle because I spent many days trudging through snow and ice to go places in the north. You just had to keep on going up there. So.... that means you are forced to slow down and embrace the moment!!!!!!
I think ice on trees are magical! They make it look so fairytale like. Whimsical!!! I love it when the sun hits the trees and everything glistens. NO SUN today or at this moment so far so I am not getting quite that whimsical feeling in these pictures. HAHA!
We had lovely guests this weekend from Illinois. Our pastor and his wife came to minister to our church to celebrate our 7th anniversary of our church plant. BUT unfortunately, we had to cancel the celebration service due to the weather. But it gave us an entire weekend to laugh, eat, fellowship, connect, receive counsel and wisdom and encouragement.
Source-Pinterest ImageThese type of things like winter storms can make you slow down in a fast-paced life and enjoy moments of cozy, fellowship and embrace stillness a little more. We can always find the hidden blessings in the inconvenient things if we look for it.
What are your favorite ways to embrace inconvenience???
I love to ask questions because that is how we interact and this becomes a spot of communication and connection. My goal for this blog as well as recording memories.
With Love,
Chrissy T

Having lived in both the south and the north also I understand all too well. It was a bit disconcerting when we first moved south that cities would just shut down. We didn't understand it until we realized the south just doesn't see enough of the winter weather to own the equipment to clear it or keep a city running. It will melt and go away faster than in the north so why not wait it out? :) Once I understood that it was much easier. I hope you have a wonderful week where your temperatures return to the 60's quickly.
I know, right!!! We just shut down everything. LOL!!! Me too!
Thank you for them visit to my blog. I try to get into my little studio to be creative when the snow is falling. I do not care for ice it is very hard to deal with. We have about 11 inches of snow and still snowing. It has been a hard winter here in Northern NH

The snow and ice really are pretty. However, here in MI, I've seen enough and it's snowing again, and supposed to continue until tomorrow night. Oh well, it will stop sometime, right? :)
Glad you had that nice weekend, even with the celebration service being cancelled.
I've been a southerner all my life except for about 9 month living in Michigan and another 6 months in Wyoming. Let me tell you, I will never...ever...ever be caught in another winter anywhere more northern than what I am now. Nope! LoL. Those were the most miserable months of my life. BTW...I just found your blog and look forward to getting to know you!
Grace & Peace,
Pam
I WISH we slowed down more up here when the snow and ice hit but yeah... it definitely sticks around a lot longer so that would be hard to do. We only had snow this time around and while I do love how sparkly the trees look with all the ice I don't enjoy the power outages that usually brings. It's always a trade off when it comes to winter weather, I guess.
Oh, I bet it has been a hard winter. Wow! NH is a dream place I would like to visit for some hiking.
Oh, I can imagine you have seen all your fill. LOL!
Ha! I hear you!! I can understand. Welcome and I hope you will pop by again.
You are so right. When we lived up north only a few days did we get to enjoy a slow moment, but the rest was scraping and shoveling.
Hi, Chrissy -- first, thanks for coming by my blog! Nice to meet you! I hadn't thought of the snow as inconvenience, but then I didn't have a regular schedule anyway. So, no major plans were changed. But I look on these as as "free days" -- time to clean a cupboard, knit or read in the middle of the day, make something I don't have time to bake usually. And I try hard to remember life is short so why waste time on what wasn't when you are given the gift of time to savor what is!
Yesss! I agree so much. I had seen and read so many complaining about it so I thought I would encourage others to find it as a wonderful blessing to slow!!! Thanks for popping by!
Hi Pam, do you have a blog?
Oh, too bad you had to cancel the celebration, but maybe the extra time of just visiting with each other was exactly what you both needed. Pastors and wives need that kind of 'downtime' and fellowship. Glad you are safe and warm and cozy, but yes, do stay away from those icy roads. That's the real danger in these kinds of storms. Here in Florida it is just plain cold right now, and getting colder as the week goes by, but no snow or ice here. We are very thankful for this, and for our warm home. We spent many years in the north country too, and as a Florida girl it took some getting used to. Mainly the winters were just TOO long to suit me. I do enjoy a change of seasons, but they weren't changing fast enough for me! LOL. God knows what we can take and not take, and thankfully He gets us through difficulties and then often gives us some reprieve. God is good, all the time, no matter what!
