Hello everyone! I will just say that I have been a grump lately! LOL! All my health issues, personal issues I do not share, and life in general has led me down the "Ms. Grumpy" path or "Mrs. Grump" my husband would say. I know it isn't becoming. JUDGE FREE ZONE here. :)
Today, I had to really FORCE myself to see the silver lining in our current situations. So, after some time in prayer, reading some verses, and trying to force myself to stop sulking... I just said enough is enough. Let's fine some fun today and be joyful no matter the circumstance.
Shall we say... I had to give myself a good ole kick in the rump and practice being grateful no matter...
What really helped me?! Well, I get a typed pen pal letter monthly that comes with a beautifully themed postcard, sticker and a positive letter. This right here lit my day!!!
I love pen paling and I love handwritten or special letters. This month's theme hit me right in the heart. I needed it!!! Oh, how I would love to have more real-life pen pals where we share recipes, positive encouragement and uplifting messages. :) I AM SO THANKFUL FOR THIS TIMELY LETTER!
I NEEDED NATURE and when I say NEEDED, I mean it. I took a slow little jaunt around our local nature trail. I just truly walked slow, breathed deep, and listened to the birds.
Letting the sun hit my face, feeling the breeze of the light wind, and hearing the birds in the glory did my soul good. I am very THANKFUL for this little local path that is easy and accessible for those that can't walk long and hard trails. This gave me just what I needed. It put a pep in my step.
I am grateful for donuts. MY FUN thing for the day was to treat myself to a donut after my walk. I actually stopped by the donut shop on the way and saved it for my treat after my walk.
I always use my Merlin Bird Sound App on my walks and hikes. I was recording and the app picked up the bird of the day (which is rare for me to actually catch on recordings) and it was so neat to catch this birds sound. I didn't see it, however. Today, I did record the LOUD Black Crow, Wood Thrush, and Carolina Wren.
I am so grateful for birds. I love birds!!! I am grateful to have been able to be outdoors.
I ended my evening with some diamond painting!!

i can relate to much of what you shared today. my happiness, my joy is intentional, something i think about and i must focus on. i have MS and i am not allowed to drive because i have seizures. i have been thinking a lot about the written word and a community of people who might enjoy a handwritten letter!! i am still thinking about opening up that line of communication. i'll keep you posted. don't be too hard on yourself...we all go through rough patches!!
ReplyDeleteOh, the beauty of the written word!!!!
DeleteI think your grumpiness is quite understandable but good for you for working so hard to turn your mood around.
ReplyDeleteThanks friend. It hasn't been easy but I am trying. :)
DeleteYou have every reason to be feeling grumpy with your health issues, I would feel exactly the same. Good for you for finding some fun things and things to be grateful for. It sounds like that letter came right when you needed it and I always feel better when I have spent some time outside.
ReplyDeleteThe letter really did come at the right moment!!!
DeleteHope all is well. My granddaughter likes Diamond Art. How cool to catch that bird. I myself like listening to the animals in the woods. The other day what my husband thought was a bird getting killed was actually a squirrel in distress. I had heard that sound before and they make it when something is in the area that could harm them. Crows, ravens, eagles and even feral cats. Janice
ReplyDeleteI would love to hear an eagle!!!
DeleteI think we can all relate to being a Mrs Grump sometimes, and what you've been dealing with does certainly lend itself to that. Good for you for looking for the positives and finding some joy.
ReplyDeletePraying for you!
Thank you!!! Thank you for the prayers!!
DeleteWe are very much allowed to be grumpy every now and then. I am happy to hear though that you went for a walk in nature. It always lifts my spirit. I had no idea pen paling is still active. A lovely letter always brightens up the day. I do you hope you are in better spirit now. Take care!

I just stopped by your website! I love your artwork!
DeleteI wish I could find more pen paling, but it does still exist.
Sometimes God sends us things like your letter when we need it. :)
ReplyDeleteIt always helps to be thankful for what we do have.
Yes, it does help! I needed to be reminded to look for those things I am thankful for.

ReplyDeleteI am so sorry life has been had I do hope your health improves soon. You did what I would have done get out in nature and moving around. I keep forgetting I have the merlin app. And donuts are guilty pleasure.
ReplyDeleteCathy
A delicious guilty pleasure.
DeleteGlad you were able to kick Ms Grump to the curb. And enjoyed a donut in the process:) I have that Merlin app on my phone but I rarely take my phone on walks with me. I will have to try that! Not sure I know what diamond painting is but I hope you are enjoying a new hobby!
ReplyDeleteI don't always take my phone unless I am on a trail for navigation reasons and safety. But since I am not feeling a 100 and have been dizzy at times I take it now. I love my app!!!
DeleteI just found your blog and I wanted to comment about Mrs. Grump. I've been Mrs. Grump/Sad lately, myself. I don't like being that way but I think sometimes we have to give ourselves a little grace. I've been dealing with some things that break my heart but I try to remind myself that I am blessed and can't control things others do...but it makes me none the less a Mrs. Grump. I also love penpals but haven't had a good one in years.
ReplyDeleteGrace & Peace
