Tuesday Tea ~ Spring Tea Towel

Hello friends. This post will be short and hopefully sweet to you!

I love a good and beautiful Tea Towel. For years it was a tradition (most will say wasteful, but I digress) of getting a new tea towel for Spring and Fall. I get one special one. I use it for that season. I also like to use tea towels practically to cover rising dough, cleaning teacups and dishware that is finer like my Chinaware when we have tea parties or family things.

For the last two years I haven't gotten one because I had a nice stash I had collected BUT the towels were starting to look and become kind of threadbare, so it was time for some updating.

I love my NEW Spring/ Summer towel!!

Yes, while it may be pretty and not look practical.... it is! I purchased this at a local southern boutique where I always pop in this time of year to grab one if I decide to get one for the year. They have such neat and beautiful tea towels. I often go here for gifts for tea towels. I buy tea towels for gifts a lot for little happy surprises for ladies in ministry. I love to get the ones that have scripture, a hymn, or an encouragement statement for them to pass by daily and use! They are usually well received.

AND because I am probably UNIQUE...... I want to share a link about the COOL history of the Tea Towel and what the difference is between the tea towel and dishcloth. Now some of you could truly care less. I get it. But for some of us UNIQUE TEA, TEXTILE, and CHINA/FINEWARE lovers this is interesting. :)

Check the article here.  What is a tea towel? The Story Behind Them!

Do you love textiles? Do you have a favorite Tea Towel?? Do you use them?

What a pretty tea towel. Would not want to use it since it is that nice though. Perfect where you placed it. I do collect textiles, but a different kind. Antiques coverlets, quilts and hooked rugs. They are all so unique. Janice

That's a really pretty one! I like tea towels too. The plain ones work well for cleaning after they are old and stained.

I love a pretty tea towel. Your new one looks fab! I have quite a few, some every day one's and some seasonal one's which I bring out at the right time of year.

Oh, yes! I love tea towels! And your new one is exquisite! Be careful not to get tea stains on it! But, I guess that's what they are made for! I enjoyed the article you linked about tea towels. I do have a LOT of tea towels, for every season it seems. Some are more common and used regularly to dry dishes. Others are decorative and rest on cabinet doors or as a table cover or placemat or in some other space where it won't get "used", but will be decorative and indicative of the season in some way. I try to only use the terry cloth towels for hand towels, and the more common tea towels to dry dishes with, but I can't seem to help others remember the difference. I gave up a long time ago, and just change the towels frequently so that we try to use only the clean "tea towel" on the dishes, and terry cloth towel on the hands (or a more hefty "tea towel" that is not so decorative). I loved your post and it makes me think about a topic for a future post someday. Thank you for sharing this with us. I enjoyed it so much!!
