After I visited one of my favorite blogs I read (Slices of Life) I loved the link up she did, so I am jumping on board with Monthly Musings with Patty! Go check it out!!!! How fun!!!!! I needed this to break up my memory posting!!! 😁
1. Describe your winter so far in one word
2. What winter activities have you never tried but want to?
As an avid hiker I would love to try snowshoeing! I also want to try cold plunging! Yes.....I am insane. Our gym just put a cold plunge in and I want to try it but....... I am working the nerve!!!
3. Favorite winter beverage...
I love a good ole classic hot chocolate. I also love an eggnog milk shake with cinnamon,
4. Least favorite winter chore?
Since, I do not live in the north anymore that requires winter chores I have to say I really do not have a chore here in the south that bothers me.
5. Soup or chili? Share a recipe if you would like.
Hands down.....SOUP! I love soup! We have soup every single Monday in our home starting in fall until the end of winter. We have rich food a lot on the weekends and starting our week off with a big pot of soup to enjoy for dinner and then lunch the next few days is my favorite thing to cook this time of year. I try A LOT of soup recipes every week. We recently tried this Cheeseburger Soup! FANTASTIC!
It is from Insanely Good Recipes....click here.
6. Dark chocolate, milk chocolate, both, neither?
Uhhhh... I love it all!!!!!!!!
I love a good Chocolate Lava Cake!!!!!
7. Share your Galentine's or Valentine's plans
We used to do a family dinner with Italian food at home, a dessert and I would give each person some candy. My husband and I really do not do much. We may swap some candy or something. When the kids were all at home we made it super special. I think this year we will not do much because they each have their own plans. But I will cook lasagna and who can come will. BUT I am trying to convince my poor hubby to go to a Valentine's tea party with me. He is not thrilled or convinced. LOL!
NOW....my brain is swirling with ideas after this question! LOL!
8. Do you dress festive for Valentine's Day?
I have at times in the past dressed festive and I usually will wear the colors like pink or something. I don't do red because I am red headed. :)
9. Do you make any sweet treats or Valentine's Day?
Usually, I make lava cake, but I will make something different this year. I am undecided.
10. What is your love language?
Act of Service!!! Actually, I knew that, but it has been a while, and things change as you age so I took a free test here to double check!!!
I had so much fun doing this!!! It has been a while since I have participated in a link up!!! Go check out both of the blogs above!!!
With Love,
Chrissy T

Snowshoeing, yes, maybe, if I lived where there was snow again. But Cold Plunging???? NO WAY! Why would anyone want to do that????? I am a hot shower person, and the idea of plunging into cold water gives me the chills just thinking about it. Not sure what we will do for Valentine's Day this year. My hubby's birthday is the 16th, and we usually celebrate them both at the same time somehow. We really don't do much for Valentine's anymore...maybe a card...I have to think about it since it's going to be a busy weekend. Now, you must let us know if your hubby goes to a tea party with you! That would be interesting. Will other men be there? I'd love to go to a formal tea party again. It's been a while. Regarding chocolate, I really don't eat it much at all, but if I do it is dark chocolate and only a little bit at a time. Chocolate tends to make me sick to my tummy. When I want hot chocolate I use Ovaltine Chocolate Malt flavor. It's very good and it doesn't affect me the way regular chocolate does. I do occasionally make myself a hot fudge sundae with nuts and whipped cream. They help dilute the hot fudge. LOL. I enjoyed your post and your comments on my blog. Thank you for being a friend! And a redheaded one at that. I was a redhead growing up, but it's kind of faded to brownish whatever now with streaks of gray. I never could really wear red or pink. I can wear more of a burgundy color than red red.
Okay, that's it. Have a lovely rest of your week/weekend. It will be VERY cold here in Florida!
I'll pass on the cold plunge! With that said, go you!
Love that you joined us for the first time Chrissy! Keep us posted on the cold plunge. Hope to see you again in 2026 for Monthly Musings. I published the schedule and topics for 2026.
That was fun! I can't choose between soup and chili - love them both. Thanks for the recipe, I'm saving it.
Our daughter was born on Valentines Day so for many years it was a birthday celebration. We don't do anything big, often just go for supper.
Enjoyed reading your answers. We do not celebrate Valentine's. I did however use to wear red or pink on the day a long time ago. Now it does not matter. Janice
Ahh! I feel the same about winter, it has been grey! I am ready for spring and some sunshine!
Brr! I feel cold just thinking about cold plunging!
I love soup too, I've been having it for lunch most days but just out of a can, home made is much better.
I hope you can convince your husband to go to a Valentine's tea party.
Haha!!! Yes, I know cold plunge does sound insane. I loved reading your comments!!
HAHA!
Thank you!!! I am excited to participate in this!!!!
I do like chili too!!!
As time is going it is getting where I truly don't think about it.
I hope I can to! But I think the answer it no currently! HAHAHA
Cold plunging! You are a better woman than I!! Now, chocolate lava cake? We can agree on that. And I love the idea of a weekly soup night!!
I'm a huge chocolate lover myself!
I'm with you on the snowshoeing but I don't know about the cold plunge - ack!! Though I will say - we used to hot tub outside during the winter and that was part of the fun - jumping out of the hot tub, having a quick roll in the snow and then getting back into the tub. Similar idea, I guess. But I was a few decades younger then. LOL
An eggnog milkshake sounds delish. I'd forgotten about that as a good winter beverage.
Haha! I will share a picture if I ever do it. ;)
ME TOO!
Oh, now...that sounds like such a joyful fun thing to do in the winter!!!!!!!
I put "winter swimming" as my activity to try! There is a spa in town where you can try out four different saunas and a cold plunge and I really want to check it out! And yes, our winter has been very grey too. We have actually had a couple of days in a row with sun and I am so happy right now!!!
Oh, that sounds so awesome. Our gym put the cold plunge in and it has the steam room, jacuzzi, and sauna surrounding it. I will be brave and one day do it. :)
