I have had this place on my bucket list for 2025 to hike and I was determined I would. So, close to the end of the year I DID! I was a little nervous hiking solo a new place so far off, but I did it and I was so glad I did. It was a good place to work up the courage AGAIN for solo hiking.
Again, I could have not asked for a more perfect day!! I hiked a total of 7 in half miles this day. I hiked half the mountain and then the bottom around a beautiful lake.
After a scary incident a year ago, solo hiking has been very hard for me. I used to hike all the time by myself, but one traumatic situation has caused me to have a lot of fear. I had a hiking buddy, but she can no longer go as often. I enjoying hiking a lot as time allows and so that means either, I let fear and lack of a hiking partner stop me or a face it my fear and be prepared and trek on out.
I am learning more about being prepared and tools to help protect me. Here above the pink thing is mace and I have a visible and easy reachable knife if you will look close you can see it.
Thirdly, I like to hike for the views, nature, and to feel the sun, breeze, even rain on my face. It is refreshing and really lifts my moods. I learn a lot on the trails. I really do. A lot about nature, being quiet, learning to build endurance, and so much more.
Little chipmunks were scurrying all over the trails this day. I kept hearing rustling all day along the trail and finally realized what it was as they kept poking their heads out and running real quick across the trails.

I would never be able to hike alone. Heck I don even hike. LOL However glad you are able to and take us on your beautiful journey. The pics are awesome. Janice

DeleteWhat a beautiful place to hike. I can see that solo hiking would be scary, especially after an incident. I don't hike by myself, except in the woods near our home.
ReplyDeleteYou are probably wise!! I wish we had woods and nice places close to home.
DeleteThat looks like a fantastic hike and good on you for working on your courage to hike again. So sorry you had a traumatic experience. Beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!!!
DeleteChrissy, your photos are beautiful. I love ❤️ to take walks in nature. I am 69 years young and I find it very enjoyable and therapeutic.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing.
Thank you for sharing your hike with all of us. I am so proud of you for getting over your fear. I don't know if I could. I used to love to hike, but am unable to now. Please share more of your hikes so I can live vicariously through you.
ReplyDeleteDebbie, Thank you!!! I love sharing. I will!!!
DeleteYour views are beautiful and wow! That was a long hike! Good for you! When we lived in the mountains we used to hike all the time- life has been so busy we have struggled to push pause and enjoy things like this, but I need too!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower and I'm loving your blog so far! You had followed my former blog but I have started a new one if you wanna come visit sometime :) https://ahomemakersheart126.blogspot.com/
It seems like a long hike, but those photos were so worth it! Can't wait to keep reading! So nice to meet you!
Hi Stacy!!! Thank you for stopping by!! It was a long hike but I needed it so much!!!! I will pop over!!!
DeleteSuch beautiful photos! Thank you for sharing them! I used to love hiking, but my body doesn't allow for it these days. I don't think I'd hike solo if I was able, though. I don't even visit local park by myself in today's world. Thank for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteStacy,
DeleteI can totally understand the solo thing!!! I still wrestle with it at times. I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue and when I have flare ups I really struggle with it.
i understand your need to hike...it is similar to my need to knit. i see completed fiber items in stores and they are so inexpensive. the yarn i buy costs more than the finished item in a store. but for me...it is about so much more. i adore handmade gifts and knitting soothes my soul. the pictures you shared are really special and i am so happy you accomplished something you thought you couldn't. i have multiple sclerosis and i can only walk very short distances. i would love to be able to hike!!
